In recent years, the company has focused on utilizing modern biological breeding techniques to shorten the breeding cycle of sea cucumbers, enhance their resistance to stress (diseases), and cultivate efficient and high-quality new aquatic varieties (strains) that are suitable for land-based industrialization, pond, sea-based net cage, and bottom seeding aquaculture, with fast growth rate, strong resistance to stress (diseases), and good economic characteristics. Specifically, the company will start from the following aspects:
1、 Selection of excellent varieties (lines):
Collect sea cucumber from different geographical populations such as China, South Korea, and Russia, and use sea cucumber populations with excellent quality traits such as fast growth and abundant flesh spines, as well as stress resistant populations such as high temperature tolerance, for genetic improvement. For traits with high heritability, population breeding techniques are used to quickly breed a large number of seedlings, and research and demonstration are conducted simultaneously; For traits with low heritability, family breeding techniques are used to construct breeding families, estimate genetic parameters, guide breeding practices, and cultivate excellent sea cucumber varieties. On this basis, multi trait composite breeding will also be carried out to achieve the aggregation of excellent traits in sea cucumber. By combining traditional breeding methods such as selection breeding, family breeding, and hybrid breeding with modern molecular assisted breeding techniques, we aim to cultivate new varieties (lines) of sea cucumber with excellent traits such as multiple spines, fast growth rate, and high skin emergence rate.
This mainly includes three aspects: ternary cultivation breeding technology, cross breeding technology, and population breeding technology:
1. Conduct research on the ternary cultivation and breeding technology of sea cucumber: Using the "Shuiyuan 1" sea cucumber new variety (F1 generation breeding from Chinese and Russian populations, with the characteristics of more thorns, fast growth rate, and high skin emergence rate) and the Korean population as parents, select the individuals with more flesh thorns and fast growth rate from the two populations to carry out ternary cultivation and breeding, and improve the population heterozygosity of sea cucumber. Through the three-way cultivation experiment of sea cucumber, the survival rate, growth rate, skin emergence rate, and thorny traits of the offspring of three-way cultivation were compared to find the best combination mode of three-way cultivation. Excellent sea cucumber varieties (lines) with fast growth rate, thick body wall, more flesh thorns, high survival rate, high skin emergence rate, and good thorny traits were cultivated, and large-scale seedling cultivation was carried out;
2. Carry out research on cross breeding technology: continue to introduce the Russian population of sea cucumber, select the parents with good thorny traits and large individuals, and cross them with the "Shuiyuan 1" sea cucumber parents. Through cross breeding, and carry out population breeding through cross breeding offspring, purify and consolidate the excellent and healthy state, cultivate new varieties (lines) with multiple thorns and fast growth speed;
3. Using the offspring of "Shuiyuan 1" for multi spine breeding research: selecting individuals with multiple thorns and fast growth rate in the "Shuiyuan 1" population, carrying out selection breeding work through population and family breeding, cultivating new varieties (lines) of multi spine sea cucumber with stable inheritance through 4-5 generations of selection, and improving the economic characteristics of sea cucumber.
2、 Efficient and Healthy Breeding Techniques for Good Varieties
By improving the intermediate stages of cultivation techniques for juvenile, attachment, and juvenile (young) ginseng in the cultivation of existing sea cucumber seedlings, a comprehensive study is conducted on the scale expansion technology and process of new varieties (lines) to improve seedling yield and quality, and to carry out scale expansion of new sea cucumber varieties (lines)
1. Develop a comprehensive technical measure that combines pond bottom oxygenation technology, microecological agents, and bottom improvers to achieve the goal of breaking the stratification of pond water, regulating algal phase, improving bottom quality, and controlling pond water quality;
2. Mechanized feeding technology in large-scale breeding of sea cucumber varieties. By adopting modern technological means, we have developed a set of new technologies and processes suitable for the feeding requirements of sea cucumbers, in order to achieve the goal of improving feed feeding efficiency and uniformity while saving manpower and material resources;
3. Conduct research on the application of biological water quality control technology in large-scale sea cucumber breeding. Based on the biological habits and metabolite types of sea cucumber, research beneficial bacteria (including Bacillus and EM complex bacteria) suitable for water quality control of sea cucumber, in order to achieve zero use of drugs and greatly reduce the discharge of aquaculture wastewater in the process of large-scale cultivation of sea cucumber, and achieve the goal of efficient and environmentally friendly sea cucumber breeding.
Conduct research on the ternary cultivation and breeding technology of sea cucumber: Using the "Shuiyuan 1" sea cucumber new variety (F1 generation of Chinese sea cucumber population and Russian sea cucumber population, with the characteristics of more thorns, fast growth rate, and high skin emergence rate) and the Korean sea cucumber population as parents, select the individuals with more flesh thorns and fast growth rate from the two populations to carry out ternary cultivation and breeding, and improve the population heterozygosity of sea cucumber. Through the three-way cultivation experiment of sea cucumber, the survival rate, growth rate, skin emergence rate, and thorny traits of the offspring of three-way cultivation were compared to find the best combination mode of three-way cultivation. Excellent sea cucumber varieties (lines) with fast growth rate, thick body wall, more flesh thorns, high survival rate, high skin emergence rate, and good thorny traits were cultivated, and large-scale seedling cultivation was carried out.
